MARCH 2025 PROMOTION : 30% OFF ON 1ST GROOMING
Pomeranians are double coated.
A double coat consists of a soft and dense inner layer and a longer outer layer of guard hairs.
Though the outer hairs can be trimmed to give a Pomeranian a nice and neat appearance, these should never all be cut away and certainly never so much that the inner layer is touched.
Once a Pomeranian is shaved, the coat may never grow back the way it once was (it can end up looking very uneven and patchy). Or, if it eventually does, it can take a very long time for this to happen (many months).
What makes things harder when choosing the type of haircut for a Pomeranian is that every individual coat may react differently to cutting.
Weekly brushing (at least twice per week), down to the skin, is necessary to maintain their beautiful coat.
Then, with a Bath and Tidy, a professional groomer can help washing, dematting and deshedding the coat.
This light trim just gives a tidy shape to the pup.
It is trimmed only by scissor.
The shortest haircut for a Pomeranian could be done only by scissor work.
And the hair left after the trimming should never be shorter than 1 inch.
The upper layer will take several months to grow back and it may never reach its original whole.
Also, where the hair is cut too short, the skin might face dryness, irritation and sunburns.
